1800 Tequila Commercials

Hola Amigos!

I am sure many of you have seen the new advertising campaign for 1800 Tequila. I actually find it both funny and interesting, let us take a minute to think about it. Patron Tequila, as much as it is disliked in the world of Tequila enthusiasts, we have to respect the brand for what they have done for Tequila.

Tequila was in Scandinavia for many years the shot you had to either start or end your night, in many cases both. Quite quickly Tequila got a bad reputation due to the cause of more than many really bad hangovers, vomit stories, embarrassing situations, you name it (don’t get me wrong, a lot of good times too). That way it stayed, for many years. The one with the hat.

As it often does in Scandinavia a lot of trends come from the states. So did the name Patron. Though there for the past 10 years or so has been 100% Agave Tequila available, it was never looked at twice. All of a sudden it became the jet-set’s drink of choice and Patron started showing up in the hotel bars. Bartenders opened theirs eyes to 100% Agave Tequila and got familiar with terms like Sipping Tequila and Tommy’s Margarita. From there it went quickly, and before you knew it, almost every bar had a bottle or two of 100% Agave Tequila. All thanks to Patrons marketing.

Now, 1800 Tequila made a ad campaign, where they use Patron’s marketing against them, i just find it funny, great job!
